Cliplala vs Opus Clip
Both turn a long video into shorts. Opus Clip has the deeper editor and more add-ons. Cliplala is priced in hours, never deletes a short, and queues to 10+ platforms through Schedulala. Here is the whole picture, including where Opus wins.
60 minutes of video free. No credit card.

From their users
What people say about Opus Clip, and what we do about it.
Paraphrased from public reviews and threads. Each one links to where it was said.
The clips are chosen from what was said, not what happened on screen, so the real moment gets missed.
r/YouTubeCreatorsWhat we do
We rank fewer shorts and drop the ones that start or end mid-thought, so the list you review is shorter and each one stands on its own.
Gameplay shorts zoom in at random and show only the character's head.
OpusClip iOS reviewsWhat we do
For gameplay we keep the game on top and your cam below, and decide every second whether both matter or only one does.
Thirty clips come back and two get posted. Reviewing them takes longer than it saves.
r/podcastingWhat we do
Near-duplicate moments are merged before you see them. A short source legitimately returns fewer shorts, and we say so instead of padding the list.
Unused credits are taken away at the end of the window, and projects vanish after a plan lapses.
TrustpilotWhat we do
There is no credit balance to lose, and your shorts never expire. Not on the free plan, not after you cancel.
Switching
Moving over takes an afternoon.
- 1
Try 60 minutes free
Paste a link or drop a file. Your first 60 minutes of video run free with a small Cliplala watermark, and you can post or download the shorts. No card.
- 2
Connect your channels in Schedulala
Posting goes through Schedulala, built in. You connect your channels inside Cliplala once, and every short can queue to all of them. There is no second account to open.
- 3
Let your Opus credits run out
Cancelled Opus credits keep their original expiry date, so use them up before the window closes. Pick a Cliplala plan by how many hours of video you send a month.
Questions people ask before switching
Is Cliplala cheaper than Opus Clip?
Yes. Our entry plan is $14 a month for 4 hours of video, and Opus Starter is $15 for about 2.5 hours. Paid yearly, ours drops to $10.50 a month, and Opus Starter has no yearly option at all. Seats are included on every plan here.
What is a source-hour?
One hour of the video you send us. A 75-minute podcast is 1.25 hours. It is the only unit we use, on every plan, and it does not change as you go up the ladder.
Do my shorts expire if I stop paying?
No. Shorts are yours on every plan, including free, and they stay after you cancel. The uploaded source video is kept for 30 days.
What does Opus Clip have that you do not?
A timeline editor, AI b-roll, dubbing, voice-over, extra aspect ratios, and an API with an MCP connector. If you need those in the same tool, Opus is the better pick today.
Do you train AI models on my videos?
No. Your uploads are used to make your shorts and for nothing else. It is written in our terms and privacy policy.
Can I post to the same platforms?
Opus posts to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram on Starter, and adds LinkedIn, Facebook and X on Pro. We queue to 10+ platforms through Schedulala on every paid plan. You connect your channels inside Cliplala once, and you check each short before it goes.
