Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-22
This policy explains what Cliplala collects, why, who sees it, and how to get it deleted. Cliplala is operated by Schedulala Inc., Ontario, Canada, which is the controller of your personal data. Questions go to support@cliplala.com.
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address, and your name if you give it. We sign you in with a link sent to that email; we never see or store a password.
- Your videos: the files you upload or the links you paste, plus what we derive from them to do the work: a transcript, sampled frames, face and scene positions, and the shorts themselves.
- Usage: which videos you processed and how long they were (that is how plans are metered), which shorts you kept, and the actions you took in the app.
- Billing: your plan, subscription status, and invoices, all held by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Team: if you join or create a team, the email addresses of its members and each member’s usage.
- Device and visit data: IP address, browser, the page you came from, and campaign tags in the link you clicked, so we know which ads and posts bring people here.
2. Why we use it
- To make your shorts, store them, and post them to Schedulala when you ask (performing our contract).
- To bill you and send the emails your account needs: sign-in links, shorts ready, renewals, payment problems (performing our contract).
- To keep the Service secure and to fix bugs (our legitimate interest).
- To understand which features get used, in aggregate, so we can improve them (our legitimate interest).
- To send product updates you can turn off on the Account page (consent).
- To see how our website is used (analytics and anonymized session recordings) so we can fix what confuses people (our legitimate interest).
- To measure advertising with the pixels of the ad platforms we run campaigns on, only when those are switched on for our site and only with your consent where the law requires it.
We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell personal data to anyone.
3. Who processes it for us
These kinds of companies handle parts of the work under contracts that limit them to that work:
- Stripe (payments and invoices)
- Schedulala (holds the connections to your social accounts and posts your shorts to them, only after you connect them; the same company runs it)
- Cloud hosting (the database, the servers that process video, and file storage for your uploads and shorts)
- Email delivery (sends our emails)
- Speech-to-text (turns the audio of your video into a word-level transcript)
- AI model providers (read the transcript and sampled frames to pick the strongest moments, write titles, and decide framing)
- Website analytics (counts visits and records how pages are used, see section 4)
- Error monitoring (receives technical details when something breaks, such as the page, the browser, and the error, so we can fix it)
- Advertising platforms (measurement pixels, only while ad tracking is on)
Transcription and frame analysis send your video’s audio, transcript, and sampled frames to those providers so they can return a result to us. We grant them no right to keep your content or to use it for training. The current list of these companies by name is available on request at support@cliplala.com. We will update this section before adding a new kind of processor.
4. Cookies and tracking
We set one cookie to keep you signed in and one to remember where you came from. Product events inside the app (which buttons you press, which shorts you keep) are stored in our own database. On our website we also use two analytics services: one counts visits and which pages lead to a sign-up or a purchase, and one records how pages are used (clicks, scrolls, and mouse movement) so we can find what is confusing. What you type into forms is hidden from those recordings. Advertising pixels load only when we have turned them on for a campaign. You can block any of these with an ad blocker without affecting the Service. Clearing cookies or signing out ends your session.
5. How long we keep it
- The video you submitted, and its transcript and frames: deleted 30 days after upload. That is long enough to re-cut it; after that you would upload it again.
- Your shorts: kept until you delete them or close your account. They do not expire on any plan, and downgrading or cancelling never deletes them.
- Account and usage data: kept while your account exists, deleted when you close it.
- Invoices and payment records: kept by Stripe and us for seven years, which Canadian tax law requires, even after the account is closed.
6. Your rights
You can delete your account yourself from Account settings. It takes effect immediately: the subscription is cancelled, and your videos, shorts, usage history, team membership, and personal data are removed. Only the invoices in section 5 remain.
You can also email support@cliplala.com to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, receive a copy of your shorts and data in a portable format, or object to a use listed in section 2. We answer within 30 days and never treat you differently for asking. If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority; in Canada, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
7. Sensitive information
We do not ask for sensitive information such as health, religion, politics, or biometric identifiers. A video you submit may reveal such things about you or the people in it. We process it only to make your shorts, we do not extract or profile it, and face detection is used only to keep people in frame, never to identify anyone.
8. Where your data goes
Our servers are in Germany and our file storage is in North America. The processors in section 3 are in the United States. Where data leaves Canada, the EU, or the UK we rely on the processors’ standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards.
9. Children
The Service is for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16; if you think we have, email support@cliplala.com and we delete it.
10. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, uploads go to a private bucket that only our workers can read, passwords do not exist (sign-in links expire after one use), and the sign-in tokens for your social accounts never reach this app: you connect them on Schedulala, which stores them encrypted, and this app holds only a reference to that connection. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
11. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters to you, we email you before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the current version.
